It's quirkiness is endearing and intriguing, without it being unbelievable or tiresome. I'm only sorry they had only 2 seasons. Well worth watching and purchasing!
The pilot of Life was one of them. I don't usually care for police procedural shows, but by the end of that pilot I was fully onboard with Life.
I love this show. I was fully pissed when it got cancelled at the end of season 2 and they had to force an ending so their fans wouldn't be left hanging.
The series finale never quite felt satisfying. The story was compelling and the cast was fantastic. I'll never understand how Heroes got 6 seasons and Life got one and a half.
Who was Damian Lewis anyhow? NBC blames the Writers Guild strike by cutting the first season to only 11 episodes. I loved it but I couldn't find it most of the time.
There are 21 episodes for the second and sadly last season of "LIFE. LIFE is a show that should have been a multi-season series. NBC was harassed by idiot reviewers who couldn't see through their thick glassed windows having been scratched by watching too much TV for their prior reviews.
LIFE is and will always be a classic. Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi has a 'pop your eyes out' magnetic on screen performances.
The best recurring actor was Garret Dillahunt as Roman Nevikov. Roman is the greatest hope for a TV nemesis ever. Introduced in the first season, you will find him back in full force in season two.
They did wrap up the series successfully in season two. When the final episode "One" aired April 8, , the music was remarkable.
Thankfully, I had the episode recorded so I could identify the songs. Soon, I learned that the DVDs and all future airings of the last episode would never have the original songs.
Today, when you watch the last episode "One" you will find the ending flat due to the ridiculous faux pas of NBCs license for the songs.
None-the-less, LIFE is a spectacular "episode" series that will always be in the hearts of viewers who worked hard to find it.
Keefer Top Contributor: Cooking. If you're looking for an original police procedural, you may want to sample this one. Love to watch mysteries and police shows while on the treadmill as the time goes fast.
You're solving the crimes along with the detectives. There's an over-arching story arc, too, in this series which gives it depth.
Damien Lewis' character was put away for a crime he didn't commit. Now he's trying to find out who set him out. Each week he makes progress on that investigation.
You would never know that Damien Lewis is British as he's got the American accent down pat. His character is eccentric, into Zen, which adds fun to the story line.
It helps him intuit things about his investigations. This is a quality series with engaging characters and the fine acting skills of Mr.
Hope to lose 10 pounds treadmilling to it. One person found this helpful. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. How can you not love Detective Crews and Ted Earley?
A man trying to cope with the injustice served on him using the tools he has developed, and succeeding most of the time, but showing the struggle he has doing so in subtle ways which only add to his character; and his flawed friend, trying to repay Crews' kindness in the only way he knows how.
Violence with humour seems to be the format American shows do best, think Dexter and Fargo, although maybe not as violent as those two examples , and this on delivers on both fronts, with an extra slice of Zen thrown in.
Far superior to the vast majority of long running U S A series. Clever dialogue between main characters with on going plot running in line with intriguing crime to be solved at each episode.
Two main actors outstanding. Damian Lewis at his best. Sarah Shahi wonderful. What has become of her? Fresh out of prison and now back in the force, Charlie Clews has been cleared of the murders that caused his incarceration.
Colleagues are wary. Is he truly innocent? Even if so, surely he must be unstable after twelve years amongst vicious criminals who at one time or other broke virtually every bone in his body?
Certainly he seems more than a trifle erratic, prone to eating much fruit and spouting enigmatic philosophy. His assigned partner Dani Reese, just out of rehab and anxious to prove she is again up to the job, fears he will prove a hindrance.
Others may have greater cause for concern. Charlie has a hidden agenda, exposing the ones responsible for those killings and for framing him.
They HAVE to be fellow officers. The stage is thus set for eleven episodes and many intriguing cases - that bigamous tax man, for example, with his lower half vaporized; not to mention the woman wearing angel's wings who plummeted onto a car roof.
Damian Lewis is yet another fine British actor thoroughly at home in a major American role. It is a fascinating one too.
Charlie's prison experiences have caused him to delve deeply into himself, he now with great insight - skilled at seeing beyond the facade.
Head gently tilting sideways, he gazes through eyes - right into the soul. He also has many highly useful extra contacts, invaluable for helping to cut a corner or two.
Best mate is fellow ex-convict Ted Earley Adam Arkin , finance his speciality. Ideal, for somehow money seems behind those murders so many years ago.
The trail goes back to an earlier bank raid where several were shot dead and eighteen million dollars were stolen. Admittedly the series has its creaky moments.
Also there are aspects that puzzle. Why did it take so long for Charlie's innocence to be proved? Who runs the mansion and orange grove bought with his compensation money?
Not just Ted surely? Why at the end is that major villain not arrested? Minor matters! Much was enjoyed, appetite well and truly whetted for Season 2.
I bought this as it was on special offer. I had seen none of them on TV so I did not know what to expect. I really enjoyed the quirky nature of the show and the way every episode featured a new crime but also incorporated another step in the mystery of who committed the murders which led to Charlie Crews wrongful conviction.
The developing working relationship between Crews and his new partner Dani Reese who has issues of her own add another dimension to the story as does Crewes relationship with his ex-wife, his fondness for fruit and his bemusement with his million awarded for wrongful conviction.
The series started with a high in the first ten minutes when Crews attended his first murder on his return to the police and when no-one could find the bullet asked " has anyone asked the dog?
Other things to look out for were the episode with the Coyotes, the demise of his car and his relationship with his financial advisor.
A couple of times I did find Crews Zen meanderings a tad tedious but overall these added to what was a very enjoyable series.

Please try again later. Verified Purchase. This TV series ended much too soon. I still remember the fan reaction when it ended after just 2 seasons - the backlash pretty much crashed their website.
In it was the most intelligent and highly rated police drama that NBC ever produced. When it ended I purchased both Season One and Season Two and watched back to back episodes all over again.
I still pull them out during television's rerun season and watch them all over again. This series also remains one of my 'most lent' DVDs.
My friends and extended family agree that it is 'highly addictive' and 'wish there was more. Sarah Shahi is excellent as his partner who first despises 'Charlie' then learns to tolerate him and much to her chagrin actually begins to see his point of view and champion his efforts to finally clear his name of a previous false accusation of murder that still haunts him.
If you like a good mystery - this one unravels piece by piece through each episode - and you like a good detective drama, you won't be disappointed.
We spent the summer watching Damian Lewis in another hit tv series, so we headed to Amazon to find another! Personally, I love watching these shows commercial free.
It makes for a more relaxing viewing experience. Some great acting, some police drama and some off beat sense of humor and wit makes for a winning combination.
I came back today to buy the DVD as a gift! Looking forward to Season 2! Simply Brilliant!!! Well written, very well acted, and different enough from the traditional police and detective shows on TV to keep you hooked.
